Cut-through in Ruthin

In a better world this would be a route around the back of the car park from Ruthin Gaol.

In a better world there would be a dropped kerb here and this would be a route around the back of the car park to Ruthin Gaol, not a dead end.

Lots of Give Ways on the shared-use route north from Tesco, Ruthin

Road closure, to keep trucks off a residential street - it would be nice if it could be properly marked as a cycle route.

No Motor Vehicles Except For Access on this route to the centre of Ruthin

More parking at the Ruthin Craft Centre - what a shame it's so rubbish.

Just out of sight is a No Motor Vehicles sign, but there's no reason to stop cyclists coming this way (even though they probably won't manage to cycle up the very steep narrow lane).

Barrier to cycling via this car park in Llangollen

SK Cycles in Llangollen is now Llan Velo

Cycle route on the old road to Ruthin.

This road closure should be adapted as a cycle route to a decent crossing at the roundabout.

This is astonishing - an ideal cycle route right next to a primary school, and someone has decided to ban cycling (the sign is unenforceable anyway, but that's another matter).

Denbigh Leisure Centre - lots of car parking, no visible cycle parking

Denbigh Leisure Centre - lots of car parking, a tiny number of cycle stands tucked away at the rear.

Denbigh Leisure Centre - lots of car parking, no visible cycle parking

Alley in Denbigh

It'd be nice if there was a decent cycle link along the old railway route when they're finished.

There's scope for a pleasant cycle route here around Denbigh

If they had to close this lay-by, couldn't they do something useful with it, such as putting in cycle stands, rather than just another row of bollards?

Cycle route sign on B road from Denbigh to St Asaph

Cycle stands in a car park in Denbigh - not where anyone actually wants to be.

Puddles on the towpath of the Llangollen Canal (NCN route 85)

Link to NCN route 85 along the Llangollen Canal

No Motor Vehicles - it takes cyclists off the A542 only for a short distance anyway.

Bike shed at Manorhaus B&B, Llangollen (they have one at their original restaurant-with-rooms in Ruthin too).

I think this is going to be a new supermarket - I hope they will fund a decent bit of cycleway along the A5 here.

Bike rental, Llangollen

It's not a compulsory left turn here, it's perfectly possible to go straight ahead - potentially useful for cyclists heading out of Llangollen.

Cyclists please dismount sign at the Wharf café, Llangollen

There really are horse-drawn boats on this stretch of the Llangollen Canal.

No cycle stands at the Horseshoe Falls car park.

View towards Llangollen on the back road from Corwen

Delightful back road to Llangollen

Bike at this steam railway station, preserved in period style.

There really should be an off-road route alongside the A5 (unusually quiet here) - there are too many twigs and branches on the footway to use it as it is.

Cycle parking (sort of) at the new Corwen Museum

Cut-through to bus and rail stations, Corwen

CTC winged wheel on former bike repair shop, Corwen

Cut-through

Pedestrian access only to Llangar church ? - there's no reason not to take a bike down this lane.

The Cyclestreets routeplanner suggested I went this way - unfortunately it leads to a ford across the Dee, which was particularly high at the time.

Delightful quiet lanes west of the Clwydian Hills.

Bridleway

Shared-use track (not on any online mapping)

The footpath along Station Rd, Ruthin, is now a shared-use path

Ruthin Gaol (museum) - they don't want bikes and they don't provide bike parking.

Cycle parking kindly provided where it's actually no use to anyone.

Cycle parking at entrance to park (which is a dead-end so this wide path is no use to cyclists).

This road closure could be improved as a cycle cut-through.

No idea why the road to the right is deemed unsuitable for motor vehicles - it's a perfectly normal road with plenty of houses along it, and also the direct route to Ruthin.

Bridleway on the western slope of the Clwydian Hills.

No Cycling sign - though this seems to be marked as a cycle route on OpenCycleMap.

There's a choice of quiet roads here.

Constriction on effectively shared-use footway on the climb into the Clwydian Hills.

Cyclists from Ruthin to Bala should turn right at this unsigned junction as well!

Not sure what this is about, but being a rebel I used the cycle bypass to the left anyway.

Taken through a bus windscreen, but there's a good shared-use path from Rhewl to the Ruthin ring road.

The Llangollen Canal towpath has been improved in the last three years.

It's a beautiful day here beside the Horseshoe Falls where the River Dee feeds the Llangollen Canal. The cyclist is about to head back down the canal's towpath on ncr 85.

Despite the threatening sign I couldn't resist cycling up this wonderfully smooth and long ramp - and so did all the other cyclists I saw at Prestatyn railway station for the few minutes we were there.

The start and/or finish of the Offa's Dyke trail.

Seaside cycleway

Delightfully wide seaside cycleway.

The bridleway along the ridge of the Clwydian Hills - rather messed up by mountain bikes and quadbikes.

The direct route from Denbigh Castle to the town centre.

Not a dead-end for cyclists, in fact the direct route from Denbigh Castle to the town centre.

Cycle parking at Denbigh Castle - a VERY long way from the entrance.

Footpath with wide-open gate to permit cycling?

Quiet road leading to footpath to Denbigh Castle

Alternative cycle route up to the centre of Denbigh parallel to the A543.

Dim Beicio - No Cycling

Much quieter alternative route up to the centre of Denbigh parallel to the A543.
